Junaid Fakim Remains in Custody: His Treating Doctor Claims He Suffered Further Complications After a Fall in the Bathroom
Junaid Haroon Fakim, former commissioner of the Financial Crimes Commission (FCC), remains under observation at C-Care Wellkin Clinic following his arrest in connection with an investigation into Malagasy businessman Mamy Ravatomanga for alleged money laundering.
Chief Investigator Khemrajsingh Jokhoo confirmed that the former commissioner is still admitted to C-Care Wellkin Clinic.
Dr. Muhammad Feizal Timol was heard in Rose-Hill court this afternoon. He explained that two other doctors are now monitoring the patient after blood was found in his stools and following a fall in the bathroom.
The court has ordered that these two doctors be summoned to court to explain the health status of Mr. Junaid Haroon Fakim.
At the request of the FCC, Mr. Fakim will also be examined by public service doctors.
The case has been adjourned until November 11, 2025, to assess his health before any discussions regarding a possible release.
It should be noted that the 41-year-old lawyer faces two provisional charges, including "Public official using his office for gratification" and "breach of confidentiality," offenses under the FCC Act.
According to the indictment, while he was commissioner of the FCC, he allegedly met with businessman Mamy Ravatomanga.
The FCC also accuses him of disclosing confidential information related to this investigation. These offenses reportedly occurred on October 14, 2025, in Quatre-Bornes.
During a hearing at the Rose-Hill court this afternoon, his lawyer, Me Urmila Boolell, Senior Counsel, expressed her dissatisfaction with the treatment of her client by the court.
