Mare-Chicose: Agreement Reached After Truckers' Strike
The situation at Mare-Chicose has been resolved following disruptions this Friday morning, when truck drivers blocked access to the landfill site, halting operations.
The strike was initiated by truck owners working as contractors, who protested several months of unpaid fees.
An agreement has finally been reached between the truck drivers and the company Sotravic. After intense negotiations with the Ministry of Environment, the company has committed to settling the outstanding payments by next Friday.
This was confirmed by Kenny Rajaratnam, one of the affected drivers, in a statement to Radio Plus.
