Blockage at Mare-Chicose: Ongoing Negotiations Between Sotravic/Strata and Truckers
The Ministry of Environment and Solid Waste Management has responded to the dispute currently involving the operator Sotravic/Strata and contracted truckers responsible for transporting wastewater to treatment centers. This situation has disrupted operations at the Mare-Chicose waste disposal site since the morning of Friday, April 17.
In a statement, the ministry indicated that it is closely monitoring the situation in collaboration with the operator. Negotiations are underway between Sotravic/Strata and the truckers to resume operations as soon as possible.
The ministry also specified that a complaint has been filed at the Cent-Gaulettes police station following the obstruction of access routes to the disposal center. The management contract for the site was awarded to the joint venture Sotravic/Strata on June 28, 2024.
This morning, truckers operating under contract with Sotravic/Strata blocked access to the Mare-Chicose site. They are protesting overdue payments and tensions related to the organization of their operations, which has led to a halt in the transport of wastewater and the blockage of access to the disposal center.
