Murder of Yogeshwaree Bhunjun: Three Suspects Charged with Complicity Remanded in Police Custody

No release for the three suspects arrested in connection with the suspicious disappearance of Yogeshwaree Bhunjun. They were remanded in police custody after appearing before the Weekend Court on Sunday, March 15. The suspects include 41-year-old Fadil Hossen Dulloo, a Nursing Officer residing in Dagotière, as well as 46-year-olds Mahmad Imteaz Peeroo and Khalif Ul Ahmad Raffique, both living in Camp-Fouquereaux.

The three suspects have been provisionally charged with the murder of 37-year-old Yogeshwaree Bhunjun, a mother of two. They are suspected of having acted in complicity with the victim's partner, Dr. Arvind Ramchurn, who is now identified as the alleged mastermind behind the murder.

It is noteworthy that the suspects were arrested yesterday. During a rigorous interrogation, one of them admitted to participating in the murder, claiming he acted on orders from his employer, who allegedly received instructions from Dr. Ramchurn.

Preliminary investigation findings suggest that the body of Yogeshwaree Bhunjun was disposed of in the sea near Rivière-Noire. Faced with several compelling pieces of evidence, including footage from Safe City cameras, a second suspect also confessed to his involvement in the crime.

Significant search operations began Saturday night and continue this morning in efforts to locate the victim's body.

Investigators are focusing on a motive related to a domestic issue and infidelity.

Yogeshwaree Bhunjun has been missing since February 23. The disappearance of this young mother of two, a resident of Plaine-des-Papayes, has raised many questions among investigators. Her partner, Dr. Arvind Ramchurn, a medical professional, was arrested last week for murder.

According to initial investigation details, the couple's two young children were alone at home at the time of their mother’s disappearance.

During his interrogation, Dr. Arvind Ramchurn denied any involvement in Yogeshwaree Bhunjun’s disappearance. However, blood traces were found in his 4x4 vehicle. The suspect explained that it was blood from meat bought a few days prior. Scientific analyses are still needed to confirm the source of these traces.

As part of the investigation, the Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT) conducted a thorough search of a house in Vacoas on Thursday, March 12, with the support of forensic police, to collect potential evidence.

In a precautionary measure recorded prior to his arrest, Dr. Arvind Ramchurn told the police he visited another woman in the Vacoas area a few days before Yogeshwaree Bhunjun’s disappearance. He claimed that Yogeshwaree left their home in Fond-du-Sac after an argument, and since then, he has not heard from her.
