Murder of Yogeshwaree Bhunjun – Me Valayden, lawyer for Dr. Ramchurn: "My client did not give instructions to kill her"

Me Rama Valayden, lawyer for Dr. Arvind Ramchurn, asserts that his client has not yet provided his account of the events in the investigation surrounding the murder of his partner, Yogeshwaree Bhunjun.

On Saturday, the Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT) arrested three suspects who claim they received instructions from Dr. Ramchurn to intimidate individuals associated with the victim.

Dr. Arvind Ramchurn has been in custody since Tuesday in connection with this case and denies any involvement.

The three suspects appeared before the Weekend Court on Sunday, March 15. They are Fadil Hossen Dulloo, a 41-year-old nursing officer from Dagotière, along with Mahmad Imteaz Peeroo and Khalif Ul Ahmad Raffique, both 46 years old and residents of Camp-Fouquereaux.

They have been provisionally charged with complicity in the murder of 37-year-old Yogeshwaree Bhunjun, a mother. They are suspected of having acted in collusion with the victim's partner, Dr. Arvind Ramchurn.

At this stage of the investigation carried out by the MCIT, Dr. Ramchurn is now regarded as the alleged mastermind behind the murder.

One of the suspects also stated that the victim was already dead upon arrival at the doctor's home in Fond-du-Sac on the day of the incident.

Meanwhile, Me Rama Valayden maintains that his client never gave any orders to kill. He also mentions the alleged presence of other individuals prior to the fatal assault and urges the police to conduct the investigation with care and caution.
