Murder of Yogeshwaree Bhunjun: Two of the Three Suspects Lead Investigators to La Case Noyale

Two of the three suspects, namely Mahmad Imteaz Peeroo and Khalif Ul Ahmad Raffique, who were arrested in connection with the murder of Yogeshwaree Bhunjun, led investigators from the Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT) to La Case Noyale on Sunday afternoon, March 15. They provided the investigators with details about the events they reported during their interrogation.

It is important to note that the three suspects, who were arrested yesterday, appeared before the Weekend Court on Sunday, March 15. The suspects include Fadil Hossen Dulloo, a 41-year-old Nursing Officer residing in Dagotière, along with Mahmad Imteaz Peeroo and Khalif Ul Ahmad Raffique, both 46 years old and living in Camp-Fouquereaux.

The three suspects have been provisionally charged with complicity in the murder of Yogeshwaree Bhunjun, a 37-year-old mother of two. They are suspected of having acted in collusion with the victim's partner, Dr. Arvind Ramchurn. At this stage of the investigation led by the MCIT, Dr. Ramchurn is now identified as the alleged mastermind behind the murder.

According to preliminary investigation findings, the body of Yogeshwaree Bhunjun is believed to have been thrown into the sea in the Rivière-Noire area. Faced with several damning pieces of evidence, including footage from Safe City cameras, a second suspect has also reportedly acknowledged his involvement in the crime.

Extensive search operations were launched on Saturday night and continue this morning to locate the victim's body.

Investigators are focusing on a motive related to a couple's affair and infidelity.

Yogeshwaree Bhunjun has been missing since February 23. The disappearance of this young mother of two children, who lived in Plaine-des-Papayes, has intrigued investigators. Her partner, Dr. Arvind Ramchurn, a medical professional, was arrested last week on murder charges.

According to initial investigation findings, the couple's two young children were left alone at home at the time of their mother's disappearance.

During his interrogation, Dr. Arvind Ramchurn denied any involvement in Yogeshwaree Bhunjun's disappearance. However, traces of blood were found in his 4x4 vehicle. The suspect explained that the blood came from meat purchased a few days earlier. Scientific analyses are still needed to confirm the origin of these traces.
