Repatriation of Ras Natty Baby: Minister Anil Bachoo Responds to Controversies and Calls for Respect During Mourning

In a message posted on his Facebook page this Wednesday, April 29, Minister of Health Anil Bachoo addressed several controversies that, according to him, have arisen in recent hours regarding the repatriation of Ras Natty Baby.

"I want to remind everyone that the Ministry of Health and Wellness intervened solely at the request of the family members, in a spirit of responsibility and support. At this stage, out of respect for the family's mourning, we will not make any further comments. What is essential today is that Ras Natty Baby's remains can be repatriated to Mauritius as soon as possible. After the mourning period, we will provide all necessary explanations and address the important questions," wrote Anil Bachoo.

It is worth noting that Ras Natty Baby, whose real name was Joseph Nicolas Emilien, passed away in India on Sunday at the age of 72. He had traveled to the Indian subcontinent on April 8 to receive medical treatment. The repatriation of his body is scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, April 30.
