Madagascar: The President Will Address the Nation on Monday Evening

Madagascar's President Andry Rajoelina will address the nation on Monday at 19:00 (16:00 GMT), as announced by his office in a statement on Facebook. This comes amidst rising calls for his resignation from protesters opposed to the government and some factions within the military.

Over the weekend, Mr. Rajoelina condemned "an illegal power grab attempt currently underway" in Madagascar, an island in the Indian Ocean where portions of the military have sided with the protesters against the government.
