Tropical Depression Indusa: No Direct Impact on the Mascarenes, but Rough Seas Expected This Weekend
The tropical depression developing south of Diego Garcia has intensified into a moderate tropical storm named "Indusa" as of 09:00, according to a statement released by the Mauritian meteorological services on Thursday, April 2nd.
By 10:00, Indusa was centered at approximately 12.3 degrees south latitude and 73.5 degrees east longitude, moving in a general south-southwest direction at about 12 km/h.
Analysis of the latest available data indicates that Indusa is developing in an environment conducive to further intensification. The system is expected to pass about 600 km east of Rodrigues on Saturday morning.
As a result, this phenomenon will not have a direct impact on Saint Brandon, Rodrigues, or the Mascarenes. However, the swells generated by Indusa will first affect the sea conditions around Saint Brandon, followed by the waters off Rodrigues and Mauritius during the weekend.
This bulletin will be updated on Friday, April 3rd.
