Showers Accompanied by Thunderstorms This Friday

A heavy rain warning is in effect for Mauritius until 10 AM tomorrow, Saturday, April 4. The atmospheric conditions remain humid and unstable in our region. Clouds associated with a frontal system are approaching from the southwest. Localized showers, which may be heavy at times and accompanied by thunderstorms, are expected throughout the day in the West and Central Plateau. These showers could spread to other areas starting this evening.

Water accumulation is likely in flood-prone areas. Visibility will be reduced due to fog and rainfall. The public is advised to stay sheltered and avoid plains, hiking, sea outings, and to refrain from seeking shelter under trees during thunderstorms. It is also advisable to avoid areas prone to water accumulation. Caution is advised on the roads.

Winds will blow from the northwest at around 15 km/h. The sea will be rough beyond the reefs with waves reaching about 2 meters, gradually becoming stronger with swells from the southwest starting this afternoon. High sea outings are discouraged from this afternoon onward.

Maximum temperatures will range between 25 and 28 degrees Celsius on high grounds and between 30 and 33 degrees Celsius on coastal areas during the day. Minimum temperatures will be between 19 and 21 degrees Celsius on the Central Plateau and between 23 and 25 degrees Celsius on the coast tonight.

Regarding Indusa:

Tropical storm Indusa has intensified into a strong tropical storm overnight. At 4 AM this Friday, the strong tropical storm Indusa was centered around 14 degrees South latitude and 73.2 degrees East longitude. It is moving in a general south-southwest direction at about 10 km/h and will not have any direct influence on the Mascarenes islands.
