After Paul Bérenger's Resignation from the MMM: Reza Uteem Asserts That 'The Page Is Turned'

The president of the Mauritian Militant Movement (MMM), Reza Uteem, announced that the Political Bureau (BP) has acknowledged the resignation of Paul Bérenger, his daughter Joanna Bérenger, and MP Chetan Baboolall from all party instances.

"It is with great sadness that we acknowledge this decision," stated Reza Uteem. He claimed that Paul Bérenger chose to step down after allegedly refusing to heed the majority voice of the activists, despite internal calls for him to listen. He made these remarks during a press conference following the MMM's Political Bureau meeting at the Port-Louis Town Hall.

The Minister of Labour also emphasized that "the page is turned" and that work continues within the political formation. The leadership now aims to move forward and stay the course.

Additionally, regional meetings are planned for the coming weeks to engage with the "activists" and discuss the way forward following these departures.
