[In Pictures] A Parade of Personalities Paying Last Respects to Kailash Purryag

The funeral of former President Kailash Purryag is set to take place this Sunday. The funeral procession will leave from his wife, Mrs. Aneetah Purryag's residence located at Shamboonath Street, Castel, Camp Fouquereaux at 3:30 PM, heading to the crematorium at Allée Brillant, Castel.

This morning, a procession of personalities came together to pay their last respects to the former president. Among those present were former Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth, Lady Sarojini Jugnauth, opposition leader Joe Lesjongard, former minister Kavy Ramano, and Electoral Commissioner Irfan Rahman.

It is worth noting that the former Head of State passed away on Saturday morning at the age of 77. Before taking on the highest office on July 21, 2012, succeeding Sir Anerood Jugnauth, Kailash Purryag had a rich political career. First elected in 1976, he served as a deputy, minister, and later as president of the National Assembly.
