Pravind Jugnauth: "I Cherish Good Memories of Kailash Purryag"

Former Prime Minister and leader of the Militant Socialist Movement (MSM), Pravind Jugnauth, visited the home of former President Kailash Purryag on Sunday, June 22, to pay his last respects. Purryag passed away the previous day, Saturday morning, at the age of 77.

"I worked alongside Kailash Purryag in the bar, as well as in politics, serving as Speaker of the National Assembly, and later as President of the Republic. I have fond memories of Kailash Purryag," stated Pravind Jugnauth.

The funeral for Kailash Purryag is scheduled for 3:30 PM. The funeral procession will depart from the residence of his wife, Aneetah Purryag, located on Shamboonath Street, Castel, Camp-Fouquereaux, and will proceed to the crematorium at Allée Brillant in Castel.

It is worth recalling that before assuming the highest office of the state on July 21, 2012, succeeding Sir Anerood Jugnauth, Kailash Purryag had a distinguished political career. First elected in 1976, he served successively as a member of parliament, minister, and then Speaker of the National Assembly.
