On Sunday, June 22, numerous close relatives, friends, colleagues, and several prominent personalities gathered at the home of former President Kailash Purryag to pay their last respects. He passed away on Saturday morning at the age of 77.

Kailash Purryag's funeral is scheduled for 3:30 PM. The funeral procession will leave from the residence of his wife, Aneetah Purryag, located on Shamboonath Street, Castel, Camp-Fouquereaux, heading to the crematorium at Allée Brillant in Castel.

It is worth noting that before assuming the highest office in the state on July 21, 2012, succeeding Sir Anerood Jugnauth, Kailash Purryag had a distinguished political career. He was first elected in 1976 and served as a Deputy, Minister, and then Speaker of the National Assembly.
