Rajesh Bhagwan: 'My presence in Parliament during Bérenger's absence explains everything'

Rajesh Bhagwan, the Secretary General of the Mauritian Militant Movement (MMM), states that he will adhere to the party's decisions. In a statement given to Défi Media Group on Tuesday evening, he reaffirms his commitment to internal discipline: "I have always prioritized the party's leadership, and the central committee will make the necessary decisions." He emphasizes the central role of this body in shaping the party's political direction.

Bhagwan also claims that the grassroots supporters in his constituency, No. 20 (Beau-Bassin/Petite Rivière), are largely in favor of continuing government participation. "I have conducted extensive surveys among the constituents, and the vast majority wish for the MMM to remain in government," he states, adding that "my presence in Parliament during Paul Bérenger's absence explains everything."

The minister highlights that he will align himself with the final decision: "I will support the decisions made by the central committee." He emphasizes his loyalty to the party members: "If I have reached where I am, it is thanks to the supporters." Finally, he asserts that the core of his actions, including as a minister, is "the well-being of the country and the supporters."
