Ajay Gunness: "We Need to Make a Decision Once and for All"

The reactions are pouring in following the press conference held by Deputy Prime Minister Paul Bérenger after the MMM's central committee meeting.

In his turn, Minister of National Infrastructure Ajay Gunness defended the party's internal operations. "MMM is a democratic party," he stated, echoing Paul Bérenger's words.

He confirmed that after the political bureau meeting scheduled for Monday, a new central committee might be convened "very likely."

When asked about discussions surrounding a possible departure of the MMM from the government, Ajay Gunness dismissed any notion of wasting time. "It is not a waste of time in the internal democracy of the party," he asserted.

However, he emphasized the need to make a decision quickly. "We need to reach a decision once and for all so that the country can regain its serenity," he stressed.

According to him, the ruling alliance has a five-year mandate and must continue its work to ensure the country’s stability.

Minister of Industry, SMEs, and Cooperatives Aadil Ameer Meea also reacted after the MMM's central committee meeting. He stated that the discussions were open and democratic. "Every member expressed their opinion clearly. The MMM is a democratic party," he declared.

He indicated that the majority of activists present favored keeping the MMM in government. "I am reassured that the central committee members think the same way as I do," he added.

Aadil Ameer Meea insisted on the necessity of continuing the work. "The country comes first," he asserted, noting that he is already preparing for the next Council of Ministers meeting, expected on Friday or Saturday.

He firmly rejected criticisms suggesting an interest in a ministerial position. "I spent 15 years in opposition, I have received offers from the PTR and MSM. I would never sell my party for a ministerial portfolio… that’s complete nonsense," he declared.

It is important to note that the leader of the Mauves, Paul Bérenger, will not resign for the time being.

He specified that he would wait for the political bureau meeting scheduled for Monday to allow MMM members time to "digest" the information shared this Wednesday.

For now, a delegate assembly is still being considered, but no final decision has yet been made.
