Joanna Bérenger: "I Will Never Go Through Nepotism"
"Dynasties have no place within the MMM. I will never go through nepotism, and I will not do it either," stated Joanna Bérenger in response to a question from the press regarding a potential rise to the leadership of the mauve party on Wednesday, March 18.
"I have no interest in holding the position of leader of the MMM nor in becoming the head of the opposition. I have neither the desire nor the ambition," clarified the Junior Minister of the Environment.
Following this, Paul Bérenger reacted by emphasizing: "I challenge anyone to provide an example where nepotism has occurred within the MMM. I have never favored my daughter. Whatever she deserves, she gets. There has never been such a thing, and it will not happen in the MMM as long as we are here."
You can find the complete intervention in the attached video, which took place during a press question session following a special central committee meeting of the MMM held this afternoon at Hennessy Park in Ébène.
Additionally, Paul Bérenger stated that he is not resigning from his position as Deputy Prime Minister at this time, although he mentioned being in favor of the MMM withdrawing from the government. "I have noted that a very large majority of the activists want the MMM to remain in the government. I, however, wish to leave the government. The MMM Political Bureau will meet again this Monday. Until then, we will see how the situation evolves," he added to justify his position.
