Bérenger Rally: Speaker Praises the Decision of the 'Group of 15' to Follow the Central Committee Instead of the Leader

During the MMM rally held this morning at Plaza Rose-Hill, one speaker particularly caught attention during the question-and-answer session with the Mauve leader, Paul Bérenger. Nassim Taujoo, a 49-year-old business director from Rose-Hill, was the first to speak. He addressed the criticisms aimed at the 'Group of 15' (the MMM elected officials who chose to remain in government), praising their decision to follow the central committee rather than the leader, Paul Bérenger. He described the situation as a historic moment, asserting that for the first time, a party refused to be solely dictated by its leader's will.

He also condemned what he views as a lack of democracy within political parties in Mauritius, citing several parties where, in his opinion, leaders stay in power for extended periods. He stated that at nearly 50 years old, he has only experienced two genuine choices for the position of Prime Minister.

As he continued his speech, Paul Bérenger interjected amidst the commotion in the room: 'We will get to work... Thank you, let’s return to our gathering.' A few minutes later, Nassim Taujoo left the room. Paul Bérenger joked, 'Give me a hand with the comrade… in French, please.'
