MMM: After a Vote Strongly Favoring Continued Participation in the Government, the Central Committee Approves a Delegate Assembly on April 11
Out of the 67 members of the MMM Central Committee eligible to vote on the motion presented by Minister Adil Ameer Meea regarding the party's continued role within the government, 51 were present and participated in the voting process.
49 members expressed their support for the MMM’s ongoing participation in the Alliance of Change, while only two votes were cast against it. This outcome represents a 96% majority in favor of the motion.
The voting took place on the evening of Friday, March 27, at the Hennessy Park Hotel in Ébène. It is noteworthy that Paul Bérenger, Joanna Bérenger, and MP Chetan Baboolall were absent from this session. Veda Balamoody, who is currently unwell and abroad, nevertheless expressed her support for the group of 15.
Of the 67 eligible voting members - comprising national elected officials, regional representatives, along with three representatives from the youth wing and three from the women’s wing - 51 were present, resulting in a participation rate of 76%.
Following the adoption of Adil Ameer Meea’s motion confirming the MMM’s continued role in the government, Ajay Gunness introduced a second motion calling for a delegate assembly of the MMM to be held on April 11 at 3 PM at the Belle-Rose municipal center. This motion was unanimously approved.
