Reza Uteem: "If Bérenger Chooses to Sit in Opposition, He Will Need to Create a Party"
Paul Bérenger has yet to clarify his political intentions: will he sit as a Backbencher in the government or join the opposition? In response to this question, Reza Uteem reminded that the standing orders and the Constitution of the MMM do not allow a party to be both in government and in opposition.
"If Paul Bérenger chooses to sit in the opposition, he will need to create a party," he emphasized.
Regarding potential internal disputes, he stated that there are none. "The Central Committee met today before the gathering planned by Paul Bérenger this Saturday to allow him to organize it as he wishes," he added.
According to him, Paul Bérenger has acknowledged that the majority of party activists want to remain in government, which contrasts with certain positions expressed within his circle.
Rajesh Bhagwan, for his part, reminded that in the MMM's political struggle, Paul Bérenger is not the only one who has faced 60-0 defeats. Citing Anne-Marie Navarre and her role in three 60-0 defeats, he insisted on the activists' commitment to honor their role within the government.
This discussion took place during the meeting concerning the vote of the Central Committee members on maintaining the MMM in government despite Paul Bérenger's resignation.
