Chetan Baboolall, MMM Deputy: "I Fully Support My Leader"
Chetan Baboolall, the MMM deputy for constituency No. 10, has had a somewhat unclear position in recent weeks amidst tensions within the party, being sometimes absent during parliamentary sessions and present at the press conference of the "band of 16." On Wednesday, March 25, he was present at Paul Bérenger's home in Riverwalk, Floréal, following the press conference of the mauve leader, where he stated to the press, "I fully support my leader."
When asked about his presence alongside the "band of 16" at their press conference last week, Chetan Baboolall explained that a meeting had taken place at Navin Ramgoolam's home after the announcement of Paul BĂ©renger's resignation as Deputy Prime Minister, and a MMM press conference was subsequently scheduled.
He claims that he attended without any idea of the tone and the fierce remarks that were to be made during that intervention. The deputy also asserts that he dissociates himself from those comments.
