Notable Absence of MP Chetan Baboolall at MMM Political Bureau
MP Chetan Baboolall was absent from the MMM Political Bureau (BP) currently taking place on Rue Ambrose in Rose-Hill, chaired by Reza Uteem. Although he attended a parliamentary meeting earlier in the day, the reason for his absence from the BP is still unknown.
It is worth noting that Chetan Baboolall was also absent during the parliamentary session alongside Paul Bérenger and Joanna Bérenger.
This Monday afternoon, the MMM Political Bureau is being held under special circumstances, as it is the first time in its history that the party is holding a BP without its leader. This meeting is expected to provide clarity on the future of the party and its members—presumably without their leader.
The BP, which is derived from the Central Committee (CC), bases its decisions on this body. It will notably acknowledge the resolution adopted during the CC meeting on Wednesday, March 18, which expressed the wish of the "vast majority" of activists to maintain the MMM in government.
Joanna Bérenger resigned from her position as Junior Minister at the Ministry of Environment on Monday, following in her father's footsteps. This resignation comes 15 months after her swearing-in within the Alliance of Change.
