Paul Bérenger: "I believe we are heading towards a major catastrophe..."
"We are biting the hand that feeds us, we are ruining our future since that time." These were the words of former Deputy Prime Minister Paul Bérenger during a press conference on Wednesday, March 25, at his home in Riverwalk. He mentioned two imminent threats that could destabilize the economy, specifically a downgrade by the rating agency Moody's and a potential listing on the gray list of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) and the ESAAMLG.
Another issue raised by Paul Bérenger was the lack of a separate Minister of Finance apart from the Prime Minister. "We need a Minister of Finance. There are many boards and institutions still to be named because he is trying to be both the Minister of Finance and the Prime Minister at the same time." He concluded with, "In the end, we are losing on both fronts."
