Resignation as DPM: Quirin Not Surprised

Former MMM member turned opposition figure, Franco Quirin, reacts without surprise or emotion to Paul Bérenger's resignation. He calls for clarity and recalls the party members hurt by Bérenger's past decisions.

"Mr. Paul Bérenger's resignation from his position as Deputy Prime Minister does not evoke any surprise or particular emotion from me," said Franco Quirin. He emphasizes that if Bérenger had truly demonstrated political consistency, this decision should have come much earlier. "Some actions and choices could have even warranted dismissal rather than resignation," he insists.

Quirin stresses that it is now up to Paul Bérenger to provide complete explanations to the public regarding the dysfunctions mentioned within the government, as well as the allegations he himself refers to as the 'gang of five'. These clarifications will help everyone better understand the real motivations behind his departure, he asserts.

Additionally, the former MMM member expresses surprise at Bérenger's comments about having a 'broken heart'. "He should not forget that he broke the hearts of many party members, sometimes among the most dedicated, who have also been deeply affected by certain political decisions made over time for strategic, electoral, and communal considerations," Quirin points out.

He adds that he will certainly not say 'good riddance', as Paul Bérenger used to say to those leaving the party. For Franco Quirin, transparency remains essential so that the public can form its own opinion about the situation.
